I have started to think about re-entering the work world when my kids start school full time. And the thought leaves my paralyzed! What have I been up to for the last 5 years? How can I convey that I have been really, really busy. Seriously, busier than before I had children, when I had a full time job and a full social calendar.
I remember my mom complaining that my dad thought she sat home all day and ate bonbons. Is that the preconceived notion potential employers will have of me? In actuality, I have kept myself busy with a part time job for the last few years, and of course raising two little people. The part time gig has given me the opportunity to stay home with the girls, yet have some adult interaction.
I can't help but question, is a part time job enough to keep me in the running for a full time job? Is this a common fear of stay at home moms? I guess the main fear I have is that I have been out of the race for five years, how do I stack up to the competition. A time where thousands of eligible graduates are coming into the workforce, willing to start with a meager salary. How do I come out swinging and demand an awesome salary?
And then what about childcare?????
